{"id":889,"date":"2012-09-06T19:40:04","date_gmt":"2012-09-06T19:40:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedurstfirm.com\/?p=889"},"modified":"2012-08-31T19:48:40","modified_gmt":"2012-08-31T19:48:40","slug":"divorce-and-back-to-school-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedurstfirm.com\/?p=889","title":{"rendered":"Divorce and back to school issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a new school year begins, new issues may arise if you are recently divorced.\u00a0 Juggling two households with children, homework, and after school activities can be a challenge.\u00a0 For the welfare of your children, it is imperative that you and your former spouse be on the same page concerning education.\u00a0 Although the divorce may have ended your relationship as spouses, it did not end your relationship as parents.\u00a0 Provided that there are no restraining orders in place you, your former spouse and the child can enjoy an productive and shared school experience.<\/p>\n<p>Some helpful tips for dealing with school include:<\/p>\n<p>1. Make sure you are both authorized to receive mailings, notices, report cards, etc directly from the school;<\/p>\n<p>2. As early as possible, review the school calendar and confirm arrangements for all school holidays \/ closings<\/p>\n<p>3. Decide if you can attend parent-teacher conferences together and make the necessary arrangements if you can&#8217;t<\/p>\n<p>4. Each parent should have a place for the child to do homework and should have basic school supplies on hand<\/p>\n<p>5.
