Domestic Violence is never OK

Domestic violence remains an unfortunate and unwarranted presence in the lives of many NJ citizens. Domestic violence comes in many forms and affects not only the victim, but the extended family; possibly for years down the road. With family members possibly being confined to their homes, with the added stressors of children being off from school, financial concerns, and the juggling of work responsibilities, the environment can quickly lead to elevated tensions. Sadly, domestic violence may result. These are trying times: BUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS NEVER AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE AND ONE SHOULD NEVER FEEL THAT THEY ARE WITHOUT LEGAL PROTECTIONS.

Victims of domestic violence can call the police or file a complaint in their local municipal or Superior Court. You may have heard that certain courts are closing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic or will be closing. As of now (3-15-2020) municipal and Superior courts remain open to address any domestic violence complaints that may arise. Do not hesitate to access the resources necessary to protect yourself. The Durst Firm remains available to assist should the need arise.
